From its beginnings, ARBAR has embraced poetry as a means of connecting with the territory. The Baix Continu cycle, launched in 2020, takes its name from the final book by Josefa Contijoch, a poet, fiction writer, essayist, translator and cultural activist who promoted countless initiatives to give visibility and voice to women poets across the country. Each edition of the cycle continues this legacy: the invited poets read from their own work as well as from that of authors who are unable to attend or are no longer with us, bringing often-overlooked poetic memories back into the present. This year, the tribute will be dedicated to the Figueres-born poet Carme Guasch, an author deeply rooted in the Alt Empordà.
Coordinated by Roser Domènech, Baix Continu brings together language, territory and poetic history in each session. This year, the cycle will feature the voices of Cèlia Sànchez-Mústich, Laia Llobera and Montse Maestre Casadesús, three poets whose work brings contemporary perspectives, lyrical intensity and distinctive approaches to contemporary Catalan poetry.
More than a series of poetry readings, Baix Continu is a space for encounter and tribute, reaffirming the vitality of poetry and its capacity to connect people, places and memories.
